Off with the Handlebars!!!
Who steals a set of handlebars? Honestly. It was a $60 Craigslist bike. I bought it thinking no one would want to steal it. I was wrong.Whoever stole it was specifically looking for handlebars. They clipped the wires. They could have clipped the $10 lock that was holding the bike to the sign, but instead the just clipped the break/gear wires. They could have taken that $60 bike. They only wanted the handlebars. That Monday morning commute sucked, but by lunch-time I'd already bought a new Craigslist bike. The seller was a probable ax murderer in a house under the freeway. His nails were abnormally long. And grimy. But I had a new bike. You will not defeat me Seattle! The Seattle bike-share program coincidentally opened the week of the robbery. A bike rack is literally outside my window. I can leave the "new" Craigslist bike on the eastside of the lake, near work, while taking the Seattle bike around my neighborhood. After it happened, I noticed the lack of bikes in my neighborhood. Not that people didn't ride them, but that they weren't locked to signs or racks or gates. Welcome to Seattle.
